Red Wing Chukka Boots – New Spring 2011 Colorways

This is will be my next boots in Queue.

I been thinking whether should I get a 875 or a Chukka for my next boot hoot. 875, being its a classic and its always a nice feeling to own a classic isn't it? Be it a Beetle or a Chesterfield Sofa.

But this new season of Chukka Boots made me ponder, especially the Blueberry. The nice shade of blue. I feel that the suede finish when combined with blue color just gives off a very unique factor that you don't find in other color + suede combination.

On the other hand,  the Burnt Orange, doesn't appeal to me.

They are now available @ C Store

Clarks Desert Boots

Bought my Clarks DB back in Dec 2010. There was this Amazon Black Friday Sale and luckily, I managed to get my pair of Clarks DB at less than SGD$100 after shipping! The retail price was S$165 iirc. (ok, they got to pay rent, staff, overheads etc)

The DB is great. Comfortable right out of the box, no break-in needed.

After a month or so of wearing:

During which, I had several near-slip incidents due to the Crepe Sole. It was comfortable, no doubt about it. But there was little traction and I almost slipped and fell several times during/after rain when walking on cement floors.

So I decided the crepe must go. The DB is too good to be worn only on a good weather. And in Singapore, you can have Mr Sunshine smiling at you one minute, and the next, Miss Rainy comes to say Hi!

And so, I went to Masterfix Services to replace the crepe soles with Vibram Gumlite. Pricey, as compared to the cost of the shoe, but it was well worth it.

The cobblers surprised me with a new buffed and polished look when I went to collect them. Love it!

I know the shine won't stay. It's already slowly falling back to its rugged look now (less than a month since they were polished)

They are now my daily work shoes and sometimes when I'm bored, I will just admire the leather...

Applying Obenauf's LP

After about 10 days of wear, I finally decided to apply Obenauf LP on my Red Wing 9013. Main reason was because I will be back to work tomorrow and these boots will be subjected to rain, shine, oil, sawdust, etc etc. So I figured its better to treat them now then later. And since I been wearing them almost everyday for the past 10 days, it seem like a good time to treat them with some TLC before the harsh world thrashed it.

Here again are some pics:

Red Wing Beckman 9013

I just love this boots.

I was looking around for a RW boots as I heard so much about its comfort and durability. But none of the other models attract me more than this Beckman (or formerly known as GT, Gentlemen Traveler)

The curve and the profile of this boots is beyond words. You just have to take a look at it!

This is what it looks like brand new:

During my trip:

After the trip (Now its about 1 week since the first wear)

I heard many reviews about how the GT (or Beckman) is tough on the feet is many had blisters before they can break in the boots. Been wearing this for about a week and on my trip I wore it to walk to the whole day.
It was so comfortable that I didn't need to put on my desert boots (I brought it as a spare shoe in case my feet was "broken" by the boots instead of the vice versa)

Tomorrow I will be going to the Universal Studio Singapore with my Clarks Desert Boots. Will show some pics after I come back

Stay tuned!

Stay tuned.

Ammo Pouch in Dark Natural Veg Tan Leather

Custom-made this at 310 Woodland. Requested for this brown leather and black stitching. I also requested for a carabiner hook cos' initially I thought it will be more convenient to use a carabiner to hook to my jeans instead. But now, I still find the good'o method of 2 loops to the belt will be better.

'Fresh
'Seasoned ( after 4 months)

OGL Card holder

Bought from OGL Kohana Veg Tan Wallet

'Fresh

'Seasoned after 6months (most of the time they are inside my denim jeans pocket)

Gakkenflex in Leather

I work in an industry that allows me to have leather most of the time and scrap leather are aplenty. Using the black scrap leather, I gave my Gakkenflex camera a new leather skin that makes it less "plasticky"

My love for leather

I can look at my leather boots the whole day. The subtle patina, the scar that makes it so special. There are just too many things to say about leather and my love for them.

For this blog, I am just going to highlight the evolution of my leather goods and share my thoughts about it.

Stay tuned as each post will be an update of the evolution.
