Finally, sending the 9013 for resole

Yup, the day is today. Decided to send the 9013 to Shukey for resole. Luckily, the man said I only need to change the front and the heel still ok, so no need o change that. Plus stitching required so there will be additional charges.

When I was there, saw a LOT of shoes being repaired and caught a glimpse of a few Red Wing changing the crepe sole as well.

See you soon 9013. :)

Cracking rubber soles on my Beckman 9013

Sad to say, I saw another crack on my beloved 9013. Seems like the day that it will fall apart is not too far from now. Sigh.

Just like any other things in the world, things fade, things fail, things fall apart. Nothing lasts forever.

Evolution of Clarks Desert Boots

It's been quite some time since I wore the Clarks DBs. Been wearing my RWs for the past few months and yesterday I decided to take it out for a walk and its still as comfy as ever. The weight of the shoes are soooo light that I forgot its actually a boots! My other RWs are heavier but of course feels more sturdier. I'm not saying the Clarks DBs are less sturdy, just that the leather is thinner and the construction is simpler.

Here's how it looks like:

Dirty and beaten up!

After cleaning them up. Look at how the dark stains are now disappeared!

Giving them a nice coat of Obenauf's LP.

Red Wing 875 (after 2 months)

Been wearing the 875 almost every day for the past month, except 1 or 2 occasion I wore the 9013. The 875 is starting to mould to my feet and the initial aching and soreness is gone! Now my feet just slips in and sits comfortably. Absolute pleasure!

This is what I like to do whenever its a sunny day; Sun the interior to get rid of the god-knows-what inside there

Red Wing mania

Happen to chance upon this website with different pictures of Red Wing been worn on the streets.

Love how the RW always work in tandem with jeans and jeans is pretty much my "uniform" as I wore them day in, day out.

Looking at these pictures is like looking at shoe porn.

Red Wing Sizing

I believe most of you who bought Red Wing Shoes had been bothered by the Sizing issues.

Here's the most often said tip that you get when you search on the internet:

"Size down 0.5 or 1 size for Red Wing shoes" - Reason? They are made to worn with thick wool socks so they are actually 0.5 or 1 size larger.

Now your question. So is it 0.5 or 1 size? Personally, I think size down 0.5 will be just nice. If in the event that after sizing down 0.5 and it still runs a little larger, you can always add insoles to make up for it. But if you size down too much, there's no possible way to make up for the crampy space.

I wear 9.5 for Clarks DB. For Red Wing, I got my feet measured in the Red Wing Store here in Suntec City, Singapore and according the to Brannock Device, I'm a 9.5

But the problem is, I have to choose between a size 9 OR a size 10 as Singapore do not carry half sizes.

I went for the larger size.

And all these months, I been wondering if I made the right choice.

Happen to surf around and saw this bit of information online. I hope this will be useful for those torn in between 2 sizes..

From the Red Wing Germany website:
"Sie sollten bei der Größenwahl nicht geizig sein. Wenn Sie zwischen 2 Größen stehen wählen Sie bitte die größere von beiden."

Using Google Transate:
"They should not be stingy with the size of choice. If you are between 2 sizes, please select the larger of the two."

So there you go. I made the right choice.

Red Wing Chukka Boots – New Spring 2011 Colorways

This is will be my next boots in Queue.

I been thinking whether should I get a 875 or a Chukka for my next boot hoot. 875, being its a classic and its always a nice feeling to own a classic isn't it? Be it a Beetle or a Chesterfield Sofa.

But this new season of Chukka Boots made me ponder, especially the Blueberry. The nice shade of blue. I feel that the suede finish when combined with blue color just gives off a very unique factor that you don't find in other color + suede combination.

On the other hand,  the Burnt Orange, doesn't appeal to me.

They are now available @ C Store
